Currently, it is trendy for wall decorations to use elements of beveled mirrors to enhance their interiors. Both interior designers and housewives choose wall mirror decorations to decorate the walls of their homes. Interior designers also use the molding to fill the middle part of the wall as a complement to their work. Ha!!!!!!!!! On this occasion I want to share my knowledge about mirrors. Because, don’t make a mistake when choosing a mirror.
AT A GLANCE THE MIRROR LOOKS LIKE THE SAME, BUT IN MORE DETAIL THE MIRROR IS NOT THE SAME.
That’s what I can convey above.
How many types of mirrors are there actually? Here I will present mirrors made of silver and mirrors made of aluminum. For more details, please read the article below:
In several previous articles we touched on the terminology of aluminum mirrors, which we mentioned is no longer commonly used in the architecture and interior industry. Apart from that, we provide solutions and explanations regarding silver mirrors and anti-rust or anti-stain mirrors, namely titanium mirrors. So, what is the difference between mirror glass and silver mirror glass, which makes the interior and architectural industry standard no longer use mirror glass made from aluminum-based metal? We will discuss 3 main differences in this article.
Reflection of Aluminum Mirror and Silver Mirror
If we compare the reflection between the two mirrors, because the metal used is quite different, the reflection of light or image from the silver mirror is much higher than the reflection from the aluminum-based mirror. So in general the reflection with aluminum-based metal will reflect with a performance of around 70% compared to silver mirror glass which is close to 100%. Apart from that, the color and shape of the reflection are more easily distorted compared to silver mirror glass.
Back/Top Coat Aluminum and Silver Mirror
Apart from that, the top coat or back coat of these two mirrors is quite different. In general, silver mirror glass has more than 2 layers of protection on the topcoat or back coat on this mirror glass. Meanwhile, aluminum-based mirrors generally have less top coating or back coating compared to silver mirrors. So the durability of the products will be different when compared in detail. Regarding the color of the top coat, it is also often the difference between these two types of mirror glass if they are produced from the same factory source.
Oxidation or Rust Resistance
So the main thing that causes aluminum mirrors to be less attractive for the interior and architectural glass industry is their durability or resistance to rust. This is because for interior and architectural industrial applications, the standard mirror glass that is commonly used must have high durability against oxidation and rust.
